Our app collects your device’s fine-grained location (GPS + network) even when the app is running in the background, if you have given background location permission.
Why we collect it:
We use continuous background location solely to power our geofencing feature—to automatically detect when you enter or exit your designated office locations (200 m radius), so that you can be checked in and checked out without manual input.
How we use it:
As soon as your device crosses a geofence boundary, we record a timestamped “ENTER” or “EXIT” event and send that single event (region ID, latitude/longitude, timestamp) over HTTPS to our attendance API. We do not track you continuously or use the data for any other purpose.
Data retention:
We retain your geofence events for 1 year, after which they are automatically purged. You may also request deletion of your data at any time by contacting your HR Department.
Data sharing:
We do not share your location data with advertisers or any third-party marketing services. We only share events with our backend systems that support your attendance reporting.
